If you have been training to build muscle for some time, and are not taking muscle building supplements you are doing just half of what you should be.

I suggest that you give them a good go, but with a careful approach to begin with. Supplements are good for building muscles, that is proven. With muscle building supplements and training you will build the muscle bulk you want.
